Spanish > English Transcriptions and Translations

Language Services for Meticulous Professionals

Whether your client is a law enforcement agency, law firm, government agency or any sort of business, company or individual, Ms. Winnick will work hard so they can receive polished and affordable transcripts or documents in a timely manner.

In addition to the legal and government transcription services described in the "about" section, Marie provides Spanish and English transcriptions for academia, the arts and business.

She is also an expert in Spanish > English text translation for market research responses, as well as B2B and B2C communications. These types of translations do require skills beyond just general translation skills, such as machine translation post-editing skills and extensive knowledge of the different dialects across the Spanish-speaking world.

Ms. Winnick is also skilled in English-language court transcription and can translate many types of legal documents from Spanish, as you will see listed below.

She is a proud member of the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers as of 2017 and a member of the American Translators Association as of 2012.

Law enforcement transcriptions: Ms. Winnick has produced top-quality police transcripts for district attorneys in some major U.S. cities. She can handle all American English and most Spanish audio recordings of:

  • suspect interviews
  • body-cam recordings
  • 911 calls
  • wire taps
  • witness statements
  • meetings
  • officer reports
  • jail phone calls
  • victim interviews
  • pre-text phone calls

Her most familiar Spanish dialects are those of Mexico and Central America.

Surveys and business communications:

Optimize communication with your Spanish-speaking markets.

Good Spanish > English translation of survey responses, whether qualitative or quantitative, cannot be done without a translator who has in-depth knowledge of dialects and colloquialisms from across the Spanish-speaking world. It is a world that is so vast that even the most knowledgeable still need to have a large network of Spanish-speaking colleagues to constantly help them continue to expand their knowledge.

Survey translation also requires a translator who is able to think mathematically and translate survey responses using very precise language so that the analysts have no doubt as to what the respondent really meant.

Marie has acquired these critical skills with almost seven years of survey translation in a variety of industries, including automotive, consumer products, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, cinema and food and beverage.

Translation of B2B and B2C correspondence from Spanish also requires extensive knowledge of different dialects and colloquialisms, though machine translation post-editing skills have recently become just as important.

Post-editing is not the same as editing a human-made translation. In order to give clients the most value for their money, an MT post-editor needs to have a basic idea of how a translation machine works in order to work with the programmers to teach the machine to translate more efficiently on its own.

Spanish and English transcriptions for academia, the arts and business: If you have a Spanish or English-language podcast, lecture, speech, interview, meeting or anything else for which you need a transcript, Ms. Winnick would be delighted to get the job done for an affordable price.

  • pre-trial hearings
  • sentencing hearings

Film scripts, journalism and literature: Though the demand for Spanish > English translation in these areas is not as high as that of law or business, Ms. Winnick excels at translating film scripts, serious journalism and literature and loves to do it. By all means, contact her if you have the need!

Italian > English translations: As a well-read Italian-American from a bilingual household, Ms. Winnick can provide high-quality Italian > English translations of journalism, surveys and general business matters. Again, MemoQ is her preferred CAT tool, but she is open to working with other ones.
